After graduating from high school, she took a job in a local factory and began living on her own. With a new apartment and other expenses, Kristina St. James soon realized only having one low wage job was not quite making ends meet.

While looking for a second job, she was told by a friend to try exotic dancing. Kristina St. James was hesitant at first, but she decided to give it a try. Kristina St. James quickly overcame her shyness and soon became very popular among the customers who frequented the club in which she danced.

In 1986 Kristina St. James caught the acting bug and moved to Los Angeles. She found success in Hollywood fairly quickly. Kristina St. James had always been interested in doing erotic films, but decided at that time not to pursue the opportunity and continue with her 'mainstream' modeling and acting career.

In 1996 Kristina St. James felt the time was right to delve into the world of adult videos. Like everyone who first started in the industry, she began with low budget pro/am videos and loops.
